Invest SVG has signed a memorandum of understanding with Luxembourg-based Nativo Group to advance SOMA Mayreau, a proposed eco-resort representing approximately US$100 million in planned investment.
The MOU was signed in Kingstown on September 30 and establishes a framework for cooperation, according to an October 10 report by iWitness News citing the Agency for Public Information.
The proposal includes more than 100 accommodation keys across guestrooms and hotel villas, alongside wellness, dining and marine experiences.
Financing is intended to come from foreign private investment and commercial bank funding, without reliance on government financing.
The wider programme includes proposals for water and waste management, environmental restoration, apprenticeships and community improvements. Community priorities would be determined through consultation.
The project could create opportunities for local suppliers, transport providers, marine operators and hospitality workers if it proceeds.
The MOU advances cooperation around the proposal; it does not, by itself, establish that financing has closed or construction has started. The report describes a planned 24-month construction period but does not identify a confirmed opening date.
