Motorists in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are paying less for gasoline following a fuel-price adjustment that took effect on October 26.
The retail gasoline price fell by EC$1.02 per gallon, moving from EC$18.31 to EC$17.29.
Diesel users face increases. Regular diesel rose by four cents to EC$17.57 per gallon, while low-sulfur diesel increased by 33 cents to EC$17.73.
Prime Minister Godwin Friday announced the changes in Parliament on October 22, explaining that the adjustments reflected the latest three-month moving-average price calculation.
Government is continuing its 50% reduction in excise tax on all three fuels as part of its response to energy-cost pressures.
The changes have different implications for businesses depending on their vehicles and equipment. Gasoline-powered delivery and service operators receive some relief, while diesel-dependent operators face additional costs.
The Prime Minister also encouraged fuel and electricity conservation and pointed to renewable energy as a longer-term priority.
