St. Vincent and the Grenadines is preparing for more than 350 scheduled cruise ship calls during the 2026–2027 season, with tourism officials anticipating increased earning opportunities for local businesses.
According to an October 1 report by St Vincent Times, the upcoming season includes eight inaugural ship visits. Seven are scheduled for Port Kingstown, beginning with the M.V. Renaissance in December.
Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Dr. Kishore Shallow highlighted the potential benefits for taxi drivers, tour operators, vendors, craftspeople and restaurant owners. The scheduled arrivals remain subject to change.
Preparations also include work under the Kingstown Enhancement Project, which brings together public agencies, community groups and commercial stakeholders to improve the capital’s appearance and visitor experience.
Reported initiatives include street cleaning, painting, murals and clearer signs directing visitors to services such as ATMs, pharmacies and health facilities. Authorities are also identifying improvements at attractions across the country.
For businesses serving cruise passengers, the approaching season presents an opportunity to prepare stock, coordinate transport and tours, and strengthen customer service. Converting visitor arrivals into local spending will depend on accessible services, appealing products and a welcoming experience ashore.
